Then that other thing happens and you see it as a kind of terseness accompanied by a failure of patience. You see the feeling in those first days is as irrecoverable as youth or the first years of your young adulthood. And you see all of this with the first cold days and the sky petrified grey, and the streets swept empty by cold.
