Identity, ethnicity, otherness and outsidership can be difficult topics to discuss, and even harder realities to live.

Words are important, of course, but so is the intention that lies behind the use of those words.

An intention can be hurtful even if the words themselves are benign and - within limits - the opposite may also be true.
