I've Got Nothing Against Gays I Just Don't Want It Shoved Down my Throat
confronts the presence of unconscious bias towards the LGBT+ community.
The artwork is derived from a snapshot gifted by the subject. The verbatim text in combination with the highly sexualised image of a 'straight' man points to the assumption that all heterosexual men are the objects of gay men's desire, no matter how unkempt.
It also echoes the sentiment that LGBT+ people should not flaunt their freedoms. They can be tolerated as long as they remain ‘desexualised’ or hidden, doing ‘nothing to frighten the horses’.
