The Closet Will Be Empty
expresses the hope that no one will feel they need to hide their identity, or live dual lives, in the future.

The artwork presents a detail from a documentary photograph taken during Miami Beach Gay Pride.

The third annual Miami Beach Gay Pride parade took place on Ocean Drive on the 16th April 2011, and was attended by 35,000 out and proud people and their allies.

The artwork was created as part of
Guardian 200
marking the 200th anniversary of the UK's Guardian newspaper.

The artist asked ‘What will the next 200 years of progressivism bring about?’. The answer hoped for here is complete emanicipation of the LGBTQIA+ community.
