Firrell reasoned International Women's Day calls for equality regardless of gender. Put as simply as possible, it calls for a world where woman=man.

The result is this very compressed expression of equivalence: one gender is equivalent to another, one language to another, one person to another.

The artworks belie Firrell's earlier career in advertising; they could be advertisements for fashion or perfume. Except nothing is for sale.

The person depicted is of deliberately ambiguous gender. According to the artist, 'if you cannot be sure of the gender of the individual, you cannot be sure whether your prejudices should apply or not.'
